Chapter 7

Quinn watched Declan hang yet another framed degree on the wall in his new office.

Man, his mate was smart. And humble. Declan hadn’t planned on displaying them at all

but Quinn had found them in a box when he’d helped Declan unpack. He was very proud

of his mate’s achievements despite the fact Declan had declared them to be no big deal.

He’d given in when Quinn had said he wanted them displayed and had fetched some

tools.

“Does this look right?” Declan asked through a mouthful of nails.

Quinn considered the placement carefully. He cocked his head one way and then the

other before finally nodding. “It looks good from here.”

Declan banged a nail into the wall and hung the last degree in place. The rest of the

nails were deposited back into the package and set down on the desk. “You know that

picture Trina took of us a couple of days ago?”

Crap. Quinn had hated having his photo taken. The last time someone had whipped

out a camera they were documenting all the horrors that had happened to him during his

time with Alpha Seamus.

It hadn’t been so bad when Trina had taken his picture, though, especially when

Declan had wrapped himself around Quinn and held him close. He’d even looked okay in

the photo.

“Yes, I remember.”

“Would you mind if I framed it and hung it up here? For me to look at when I’m

struggling with a website?”

Quinn warmed, knowing his skin would be flushing to a dark pink. “Okay.”

Declan’s answering grin melted him to a puddle of goo. “Look, it’s time for dinner.

You feel like eating?”

Lately, Quinn had been feeling as if he could eat a cow. It helped that Declan always

seemed so satisfied when he ate a decent meal. He probably felt as if he was providing

for his mate. Quinn figured it was a dominant wolf thing but it didn’t bother him. “I could

eat.”

Declan took his hand and tugged him along, passing right by the dining room,

ignoring Quinn’s confused look. He led him down the basement stairs where Trina and

Cullen were busy setting up … oh. Oh my.

“Thanks guys. Now get out of here.” Declan waved them off.

The formerly cavernous space, the one that had always scared the crap out of him,

was now a beautiful rec room. There were rows of reclining chairs on one side, facing a

huge flat-screen television, complete with surround sound. A complicated stereo was set

up behind a brand-new wet bar. Right in front of that was a pool table. Tucked away in

another corner was a child-sized table and chairs, big beanbags for sitting in, and a

bookcase, all grouped on a plush alphabet rug.

“You remember we were talking about you needing to meet the pack? Well, it got

me to thinking. I would love if our home would be like a central hangout space for our

pack. You could meet everyone, and I really think it would make us all closer. What do

you think?”

There was a genuine apprehension threading through Declan’s words, as if he was

nervous. “I think it’s awesome. How did you get all this
